A new thought provoking art exhibition by Liana Patarkatsishvili.

The Concept

‘A Spider’s Web’ is a journey of catharsis, liberation, and growth narrated by an artist who has rediscovered her love for life, her passion for art and her irrepressible will to overcome after a series of emotionally trying experiences.

Through this interpretative art experience featuring playful pop-culture and transcultural motifs rendered in clever multimedia installations, the artist demystifies and transforms her experiences, embracing her desire for understanding while also celebrating life. By creating and presenting ‘A Spider’s Web’, the artist finds strength in vulnerability and in trusting her audience who she invites to embark on personal journeys of their own.

Ultimately, ‘A Spider’s Web’ as a total installation is a physical metaphor of turbulent emotions and experiences tamed and conquered through creative expression. It affirms the resilience of life and the healing power of art. Find out more about the exhibition.

The Artist

The artist is a proud wife and mother. She is an accomplished media manager, well-versed in the inner workings of mass media organisations and the dangerous politics of her native country in the Caucasus. Having spent over a decade navigating a difficult phase in her life, she has emerged stronger, braver and more optimistic through art.

A DESIRE TO BE SEEN AND UNDERSTOOD

Emboldened by her desire for healing and understanding, the artist embarked on a creative journey in 2019 which has culminated in the multimedia art experience that is ‘A Spider’s Web’. This narrative exhibition represents the artist’s transcendence over the alienations of the past. It is a shared experience intended to bridge divides and nurture understanding and acceptance where the burdens of the past had left distance and dissonance.

The artist succeeds in her purpose by deftly engaging in a two-way embrace of the universality of human experience. On one hand, she finds healing through artistic expression and shared understanding, and on the other, she consciously creates a safe space for others to embark on the healing journey of engaging their own sensitive emotions and experiences.

SAFE, EMPOWERED & OPTIMISTIC

This art therapy exhibition is a performance of strength and resilience that reinforces the artist’s emotional healing and promises to be an enriching experience for her audience. Neither time, identity nor place are fixed in ‘A Spider’s Web’ because the artist has chosen to be anonymous and by this, has extended an open invitation for any and all to experience, interpret and complete her art. The artist invites her viewers to supply the temporal and spatial details that will breathe new life into each installation, and by so doing, share in the liberating act of navigating life’s highs and lows through art.

The artist’s willingness to reaffirm her experiences and rebuild her life through art is a courageous act that shines through the entire installation. Pop-culture references and nuanced humour add a touch of fun and lightness in a clever nod to the truism that laughter is the best medicine and there’s always a sliver of light in dark moments.
